I used a quote by Albert Einstein the other day and it has taken hold of me!
“If you want your children to be intelligent, read them fairy tales. If you want them to be more intelligent, read them more fairy tales.”
― Albert Einstein
If you consider the rich language and vocabulary used in the fairy tales of Dr. Einstein’s day, you can know that he was proposing building language through storytelling. We know that children who read and children who are read to are the ones who become the most successful students. Additionally, I think Dr. Einstein was saying that children need to expand their imaginations to allow the impossible to become possible. We know that fiction writers (like Jules Verne) and cinematic storytellers have changed our world. We need to give students the tools to dream!
I have made 2 posters honoring his quote. Which one do you prefer?
